Fulwell House - Marquee Wedding
Not far from us is the most glorious hide-away, called Fulwell House. Nestled between an old bridleway and the hills of Mixbury lies the old farmhouse, with its extensive lawns, outbuildings and own little brook running passed the kitchen window. This is where we had the pleasure of coordinating a wonderful marquee wedding last year. Let me tell you more.
Background
Lucy and Nick split their time between London and Portugal, but wanted to create a home-from-home atmosphere with their wedding. They’d chosen Steeple Aston church, as this was Lucy’s family church growing up, and needed to find a location not too far from the church, yet convenient enough for the 140 guests travelling from all over the world to attend their wedding.
Location
Fulwell House was the perfect place. It's available via AirBnB for extended stays, and directly with the owners for private events. The house has four bedrooms (of which one is a twin room), a huge kitchen for entertaining, and a gorgeous front lawn – once housing a century old monestary – which is perfect for marquees. Situated between Brackley and Bicester, the venue is no more than an hour and a half from London.
The Start of the Celebrations
Lucy and her family stayed at Fulwell House for the week of the wedding, while Nick and his family found a lovely house only a mile away. The Fulwell kitchen was the ideal spot for an informal dinner following the church rehearsal the day before, and the morning of the wedding appeared with blue skies and perfect temperatures.

The Wedding
Lucy chose a navy and copper colour scheme, with country flowers by Wild Rose Florist that tied in with both the theme and location.
Arriving back from the church, guests were treated to Champagne, canapés, a mariachi band and vintage fair games. Lucy & Nick had the opportunity to disappear for a few minutes with their photographer Lucy Noble, with the Fulwell House outbuildings creating the perfect backdrops.

The Evening Reception
The most extraordinary sunset disappeared behind the hill, before we drew the reveal curtain for the first dance. And from there on, it was an immense party!
Evening nibbles were provided by our friends at Goujon Monkey!

It was one marvellous celebration, and as I was tidying up at 2 in the morning, I was almost reluctant to leave. Fulwell House had certainly proved to be the most amazing venue.
